As I know, it's only possible to bridge a completely new and empty eFic install with an existing forum software. But what about the other way? Is it possible to bridge a blank forum install with an existing eFic site? My idea is to write a table converter that transforms the eFiction authors table into the forum users table (SMF, php-fusion...). After importing the new forum users into the database, everything else would be like normal bridging procedure. Install the desired software, overwrite it's user table with the converted one, and install the bridge. Then we should have all the eFic users as new forum members.
Am i right? πŸ™‚

Yes. That's the way I did it. Just remember to import all the shared information into your forum database. Also, when I did it with SMF, the dates in SMF are encrypted but they aren't in efiction, so you may need to deal with that if you are using SMF.

OK thanks Carissa, I'll have a closer look into the code. Probably I'll use SMF for bridging, but the members table looks a little bit complicated and I don't know exactly how to transfer the eFiction authors into it. But good to know that it is possible. πŸ™‚

I know I'm a little late in answering, but I did the same thing, Steffen. I had an established Efiction site of 200+ members and a blank new install of SMF to integrate it with. It took some work in the database, but I was able to do it without too many headaches. The big problem I had was converting the account creation date into the SMF user info, as it uses a different date and time format. But that wasn't a big deal that kept the bridge from working, more of an annoyance. πŸ™‚
