Genre set to none after upgrade

😕  Would someone be able to help us with this, please?  We've got Genres missing for over 2500 Fanfics!

Only Fanfics added since the upgrade to 3.2.1 have Genre.  Help!

Umm... I don't really know. Check your database and see if the genre information is still there, only set under the wrong thing. My guess is that either the genres info didn't transfer when you upgraded (in which case you'll need the backup for the old stories), or the info is saved under the wrong thing (or your classifications are searching for the wrong thing).

It looks like your characters and warnings are all set to none too.

This has all the old Genre that we had before, but it's not applying to the new Fanfics or the old ones.  Is there something I can do from the PHPMyAdmin or from the site.

We still haven't been able to figure out what's happening here.  Umm, the Genre tab is sitting right up against Warnings though.

Genres: Warnings: Not suitable for under 17

The Genre might not be showing because of this.  Is there somewhere in the coding where I can put the Genre on it's own line, so we can see what Genre's should be there?

Good lord, I didn't realise that someone had replied to this one after my last post in July!  Calic0cat, would you still be willing to help me out with this one?  I'm very sorry I didn't see your reply and thought that this was a lost cause.  It's become a problem though, since we have minors reading at the site and they can't see what Genre warnings there are.

I've been going through the script and can't find a thing.  In regards to the database version, I have had a skin up there since the upgrade called 'Labyrinth', which actually has the Genre in it.  The three skins it's not showing up on 'KanaZero', 'Kendappa-ou' and 'Vampire' were created after that first one and are all missing the Genre. I used the 'Labyrinth' skin files to create them, so I can't see what might have been missing from one to the other...  I've copied the contents from the 'storyindex.tpl', 'style.css', and 'printstory.tpl', with no luck.

I can send you the backup file from the database from the original skin, and the newer one.  They were different versions of efiction though and I'm not sure of the file when the 'Labyrinth' skin was from the upgrade, or what date I added in those three above.

Hi!  Okay, I've fiddled around with listings.tpl and I actually have the Genres now, but there are some new problems. 

What I did was go  into take a look at the coding on the CSSZen skin listings.tpl and saw that Genre was listed in there as {classifications}.  In the new skins listings.tpl I've been using since the Genres disappeared, it was in as <span class="classification">Genres: </span> {genres} <br /><span>

So I changed it in the Kendappa-ou skin to <span class="classification">Genres: </span> {classifications} <br />  The Genres are now there, but the Genres are there twice as well as the Warnings:

Genres:  Genre:  Action, Adventure, Drama
Warnings: Not suitable for under 17

Warnings: Not suitable for under 17

Is there something else on the listings.tpl page I need to change to take out the duplicate Genre and Warning, or is there something in the header.php  or another page that I need to remove or change to make these duplicates disappear?

Something else I just noticed.  Anything added after the upgrade has a Genre.  Anything added the years before the upgrade, has Genre:  None.  How can I fix this?

Can someone please help me with this?  I've checked the backups, but they don't show the Genres for the Fanfics.  I even went to the wayback machine, but it only shows one page for Authors, Titles and Recent.  Genres from everything before the upgrade are set to none.  Is there some file somewhere that shows what the Genres used to be?  I don't mind adding it back in one by one for all 3,000 Fanfics, as long as it's there somewhere.

This is really very upsetting.  Years of work down the drain.

Are you SURE that the backups of 2.7 don't show the Genres for the Fanfics? If you had Genres before, and you saved the database then, then they should be there. Did you save everything from your efic version 2? I would tell you where to look, but I don't remember that version and I don't have any copies of it up and running.

They have got to be there unless you didn't save the whole database from a 2.7 version.

I go to PHPMyAdmin and save the databases called princess (26) and _phpbb1 (30) which show the following:

Okay, I looked into the backups and found the fanfiction_stories.  It appears to have every Fanfic at the site's name and summary with a whole lot of numbers:

Is the Genres one or more numbers from in there?  And if so, how can I apply these to the new upgrade for each Fanfic and in what file?  Sorry to be a pain.  I'm really trying to understand this script, and as you can see, with over 3,000 Fanfics missing their Genres, it's a major problem for my site.  😀

Oh!  I can see some difference!  In the strings of numbers after the updated and published dates:

This one is for the 18th of June:  1, NULL, '1', '1', '1', '0', 76520, 1, 16, 843, '0')

Is the 18, 5048, the missing Genres?
