Hello I'm running e-fiction 3.5 on my site and I was wondering if there is a mod or if one can be created that will let me categorize a drop down menu.
One of my Classifications is Ship. I would like to be able to classify the drowdown that list all the ships by Canon ships, non-canon ship, Slash, and Femslash.
I think that would be alot easier than doing so by abc order.
If there a mod that can do this, or can someone tell me a way this can be achived?
My site is at http://loveunchained.com/fiction/
I'm not aware of any mod. I looked to see if it could be done in the database (by maybe changing IDs around), but it can't. Some part of the script is telling it to order alphabetically, I just don't know where. Theoretically if you find it you should be able to tell it to order by the class_id and then change the class_ids to be in the order that you want. Of course, this would likely affect all classifications sitewide. It would also suck if you have stories already, because they'll have the class IDs assigned on them for each classification already and they'd also need to be changed.
If I find it I'll let you know.
I already have to go through all my stories and re categorize them anyway. I changed my categories to be easier to navigate.
I was also thinking that maybe There was a way to control which dropdown was shown in which category.
Like if the person selects Canon Ships as thier main category, then the only items that would show in the dropdown would be canon ships.
And if they chose Non Canon ships only non canon items would appear in the dropdown but I fear that may be more complicted than the first option.
That's how characters works. For non-sitewide characters, they'll change based on the category selected. Again theoretically this could be applied to classifications with modding of the script, but it's likely complicated. Maybe you could investigate changing your categories/subcategories around to accommodate your end goals.
Is there a way to include a second charcters but name it ships instead? That would be very benificial.
Have you tried using Classifications for ships? That's what that feature is for π

I'm already using classifications. I wanted to be able to control the order that the ships were placed in so that I can have Canon ships and non canon ships seperated.
My archive is a Harry Potter site so there are over 100 widley popular ships. If i had a way to simplify it, then it would be much easierto navigate.
I'm thinking I might just have to use subcategories instead. That's still going to be alot though π
You could have two separate classifications: one for canon, one for non-canon, if you don't think that will lead to too many options.
Well I have more than canon and non-canon I also have Slash and Real Life Ships so having four would really be too much. I do think that I will just add the subcategories. So I guess consider this thread closed or solved or whatever. But I really appreciate your help!
