URL to your eFiction: http://jabberjay.net/home
Version of eFiction: 3.5.3
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: no
Version of PHP: 5.2.12
Version of MySQL: 5.0.91
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: Connection error, line 903, fatal mySQL error
State the nature of your problem:

Warning: mysqli::mysqli() [mysqli.mysqli]: (HY000/2002): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /hermes/bosweb26a/b1653/ipg.jabberjaynet/home/...php on line 7
A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
ERROR: Failed to connect to the database!

Do you have a test account for us? No.

From what I've seen on the forums, this means there is an error in log in information.  However, I'm pretty sure I have the log in information correct.  But, I am also incredibly new at this and may in fact be doing everything wrong....

Here is the error message: http://jabberjay.net/home/install/install.php?step=1

I have used the referenced database name correctly, I think.  If the username is jabberjaynet, database is fiction, the correct database name would be jabberjaynet_fiction, right?  Same with the database user?

This is making me want to pull my hair out so any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

It looks like you are okay on database name and user, and assuming you put the correct password in, (it is caps sensitive) and if you copied and pasted the password, be extra careful not to copy whitespace.

What did you use for host? Did you try: localhost

why is nothing ever easy?

I have been using localhost and I've tried both copy and pasting the password in and typing it in to make sure I have it correct and keep getting the same error.    Although, it is good to know I'm putting the database name and user name correctly.

Hmmm, well the next guilty suspects on the list to check would be:
1. when you added the user to the database, did you check "All Permissions"/
2. When uploading the script, check to make sure no files were dropped (ftp is notorious for dropping files grrr), and you moved the config.php out of the documents folder into the main directory and that you have set the right chmod for it.
