Okay my site has almost a 1,000 members and I've read the warning on the site where it mentions it will cause server strain. After I send out an email, the site is very slow... so I was wondering what your suggestions would be to sending out emails to members.

I don't know if there is anything you can do about that. The site is slow because it's processing the emails.

My suggestion would be for you to let members choose whether or not they want to receive site-wide emails. I think that would require a mod though.

If you have access to a list serv program at your web host, I'd probably see about letting members opt into a list serv.  That would take the strain of the website.

Yeah, the website (efiction) was down for about 30 minutes, yet the forums on the site worked.

I have http://www.tincan.co.uk/ PHPlist through my CPanels Fantastico. Think that would work?

You could also only send e-mails out around 3am or 4 am in the morning. There tend to be much fewer people on during those times.

I'm marking this as closed as there's been no activity for more than a month.
