This isn't so much a question about eFiction, but more of a general query. I'm not completely au fait with the way hosting space and bandwidth works, you see.

Anyway, I was wondering if we wanted to have story banners on our archive, for example with this story:

http://www.hogwarts-quill.com/viewstory.php?sid=43&index=1

Does that use up our hosts bandwidth if hosted off-site? Or is it the bandwidth of the image host that is being used?

Thankyou to anyone who can help me πŸ™‚

The bandwith is used wherever the image is posted.

So if you upload a picture to photobucket, and <img src="" http://www.photobucket.com/blahblah/"> ;" then the image shows up, using photobucket's bandwidth.

All right, so hosting the image on photobucket won't affect my site's hosting/bandwidth?

Thanks for your reply!

Nope. πŸ™‚ That's why people say "Don't steal my bandwith!" when they have a lot of pictures and stuff, and ask people not to just link to the pictures on their own sites.
