I recently installed eFiction 3.2.1 ( http://www.action-stations.net/ ) and have been modifying the CSSZen skin (after renaming it to CSSAction) to suit the site.
While looking at the footer.tpl files in both the skin directory and the default_tpls directory, I noticed that the DIV statements are not paired.
<!-- START BLOCK : footer -->
</div>
<div id="footer">
<div id="footertext">{footer}</div>
<div id="footernav">{footermenu_content}</div>
</div>
</div>
</body></html>
<!-- END BLOCK : footer -->
<!-- START BLOCK : footer -->
</div>
<div id="footer">{footer}</div></div>
</body></html>
<!-- END BLOCK : footer -->
Assuming that they DIVs should be paired, I edited both of these files, changing the red highlighted ending </div> statements to <div> starting statements. After the change, the site footer now appears on all the site pages, where previously I had only seen the site footer on the home page.
I'm assuming this was just a typo, but that you would want to know.

Hmmm... I see the footer on ALL pages of my archive with the CSSZen skin, without the fix.
Maybe it was a typo with a later version of eFiction 3. I usually don't upload the skin folders when I update.
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

That closing div which seems to be orphaned is probably paired with something in your header.tpl or index.tpl
the normal one page of a html doc is now spread over the different templates, so things that appear orphaned actually arent. I have my csszen working without the fix too. Although if it works for you with the fix then all is good.
You want to be a little bit careful with those divs, you may find that while it works on say mozilla or opera, it completely screws it up on ie (especially ie6)
why is nothing ever easy?

This is the closing tag for the "mainpage" < div> in header.tpl.
Also moving this thread to skinning support.
Tammy, Jacci,
I see what you are saying about the 'orphaned' /div... but (Isn't there always a but...?) if that is the case - which it seems to be - then the remaining divs in the footer.tpl file don't seem to be properly paired.
I realize that the use of the template files may not allow you to follow the same structure rules that other programming environments use, but it still seems to me that in the big picture the div tags still should all pair up.
<!-- START BLOCK : footer -->
</div> If this is an orphaned closing div statement...
<div id="footer">
<div id="footertext">{footer}</div>
<div id="footernav">{footermenu_content}</div>
</div> ...then this closing div pairs up with the footer div three lines above...
</div> ...which leaves the question: What opening div is paired with this closing statement?
</body></html>
<!-- END BLOCK : footer -->
Without comments, this code isn't particularly easy to follow, especially with the use of the template files. I consider myself to be a capable programmer, and I enjoy making modifications to customize a software package like eFiction to suit my needs. I don't want to come into this forum and have the people who have worked so hard on this project feel like I am criticizing them - to be honest, I am very impressed by the scope and functionality of what you have created. If I pick on you a bit, it's only to help myself to use your product, and possibly make some small improvements as we go. If I'm wrong, well then I'm wrong - I can live with that. The only way I'm going to understand, though, is through investigating the code and discussing it with you all. With a bit of luck, you won't consider me a pest. π
There's another <div> in header.tpl obviously. That one is the {page_id} div.
