Name is "characters", I only changed the Title.
I did what you said. Download and upload the files again, and "Run Update", but nothing changed...

I checked several times the language files...
Temporarily change the language setting back ton en and see if that solves your problem. If it does, you know it's something in the translations that is causing an error. I can't find anything in the php. I can't replicate the problem on any of my sites in various configurations. At this point, I'm stumped.

I try english language, another skin, I investigated in my sql database, and I can't find the problem !
I'm not alone. My friend who translated it, have the same problem.
But, if it's a translating problem, why we have the same problem in english ?

Start new.
Get the new english version (download today) and reupload it. Have a new english archive and see if it is fixed. If it is fixed, retranslate the new files, but check very often to see that it is still working as you translate.
If you have a new english archive with no translations, and the problem is still occuring, then post a new bug report.

Sometimes it helps if you did something before, to try it again.
I tried something 3 times, and it wasn't fixed, but when I went back and tried it again the 4th time, it was fixed.

I will leave them the next month (fuitadnet.com, horrible since they have a new server), so I can do many test...
Currently, my eFiction is on a free hoster, not a perfect one, but... not so bad.
I'm experiencing this issue, as well. Character choices are fine in all other selection types except "categories".

We've set up some "site-wide" character choices (characters whose catid is -1 in the fanfiction_characters table) and many characters whose catid is 4, but when selecting the category associated with catid 4, the only characters who show up for selection are the site-wide characters.
I've been exploring, but my knowledge of php is limited, and I worry that if I "fix" this problem, I'll break all the other selections. From what I'm seeing, it's as if the "id" value is not being passed to "catid" when the type is set to "categories".
