Hello. I normally store all my stories on the site in text files, but my site was recently hacked (not because of eFiction) and the stories folders were compromised and used. I've decided that it would be best for me to no longer allow any scripts on my site to create files.
My problem is that I have more than a 1000 chapters and there's just no way I'm singlehandedly adding all those to the database. I simply don't have the time and/or patience.
So, is there an easier way to convert the text files to the database other than by hand? Is there some sort of script someone else has come up with so this doesn't have to be done manually?
Any help or ideas on how to successfully (and easily) switch the storing method would greatly be appreciated.
You'd have to write some sort of script to read through the stories/ folder and insert the chapter text into the database. And you'd definitely want to use a test archive.
Thanks for the suggestion. However, I'd have no idea where to even start to make a script like that, so I just bit the bullet and did it myself. I was able to add about 300 an hour, so it didn't take as grudgingly long as I had first anticipated. Just wish I had done it this way to begin wish. Thanks for the help π
