URL to your eFiction: http://www.jonasbrothersfanfictionarchive.com/
Version of eFiction: 3.5.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?: No
Version of PHP: 5
Version of MySQL: 5
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: lock account
State the nature of your problem:

We can no longer lock accounts. We go to the user page, click lock account and it takes us to the admin side. But nothing happens. We've also had some people whose accounts should not have been locked suddenly turn up locked.

Do you have a test account for us? Not yet, but PM me and I'll set up a temporary Level 2 admin account.

On another note, where in the database does it store locked user info. I was trying to find it to trip it manually on the users that needed to be locked, but I'm apparently an idiot.

You're trying to lock accounts through the profile link? The lock is stored in authorprefs as a level -1.

Yes we were.

I just successfully locked an account via the profile page, and then had one that refused to lock. Another admin tried to lock 15 accounts, but none of them showed up on the locked members on the admin page. I tried to do lock the same accounts and couldn't.

Anything different about the accounts you could lock versus the ones you couldn't?

I've tried it on my test site, and it's working for me as far as I can see.

As far as I can tell, the only thing is the other admin had already banned the account on the forum side of our site. The forums aren't bridged though, so I'm not sure if that would affect anything.

While working on the other massive issues, I somehow figured this one out.

For some reason, the authors were lacking an entry in the authorprefs. In order to lock the account, I had to first validate the author which made the row appear in the database and THEN I could lock the account.

I don't know why the row wasn't there in the first place though.

Okay.  I'll look into that.  Were they possibly admin created?

No, there are no admin created accounts.

We were bridged to SMF for a few months though. I don't have the UIDs of the authors anymore to tell you if they were created while we were bridged or not.  😐

From what I understand mostly non-authors are having this problem. I'm guessing because most authors have set their preferences and that made the database insert the row.

Yeah.  I'll add a check in the lock mechanism to add the row if it doesn't already exist.
