Site:  TheRabideReader.com

I am working on an issue with my host and they wanted Admin access to the site, I attempted to make my testacct an andmin and could not.  When I click on Admins for a list, I don't have anyone, including myself listed.

I am sure this is something I didn't set right, but I looked over the manual and could not find anything.

testacct
password is testing1

But you're able to access the admin control panel? yoursite.com/admin.php? There are a couple of ways to make admins - could you outline the steps and the results?

I am able to access the admin panel.  What I did was click on testacct from the members list, then I clicked on the Make User an Admin.  It takes me to the Admin panel where I have nothing.  No options at all.

Is the page completely blank, or is it showing your header & footer and stuff, but not the content that's supposed to appear in the middle?

You can also go into the database and set the admin level there, as a workaround.

Sorry, I've been sick :-(!  The admin content is missing, everything else is there.

Have you tried in on a default skin (like CSSZen)? Also, what the URL of that page, maybe the page link got messed up or something.

I don't have a default skin.  I'm afraid I got rid of those.  It's odd cause I can access all the other stuff.  I just cannot add a new admin at all.

Okay, so I'm still working on this issue, and whilst doing so I noticed that under page links, if I select the Admin option to edit, the link url is 'admin.php'  perhaps this is missing something?

I noticed that the authors link url is 'authors.php?ist=authors' and wondered if perhaps I was missing something in the admin link url.

The add admin URL should be something like /admin.php?action=admins&do=edit&uid=[uid]. Try that with the UID of whatever member you want to make an admin and see what happens.

Have you tried re-uploading a default skin. If you dont have them, just re-download them from here. If you have the same problem, then at least you will have eliminated that it is a problem that is skin related.

why is nothing ever easy?

Lyndsie, that didn't work.  I am going to try uploading one of the default skins to see if it is a skin issue or something else.

Okay, it's definitely NOT a skinning issue as the admin stuff doesn't show up on CSSZen either.

I would re-upload all admin folders and admin.php files from the efiction zip. Maybe you are missing a file that didn't upload properly the last time.

Upgrading to 3.3.5 fixed the issues!  Thanks ever so for all your help and ideas.
