This isn't really a problem I don't think but I couldn't figure out where this topic fit the best.
I have my site set to automatically validate any submissions. Is there a way to un-validate a story after it's been validated? I went into one of my stories and tried to change the 'validation' menu at the bottom to 'no' but it doesn't seem to do anything. If I go back and look the story is still validated. Should this work? If not I will gladly take this topic to the mod request or new feature forum.
I'd just like a way to remove fics temporarily if they forget a disclaimer or have errors etc. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using eFiction 3.1.1 at www.spntwisted.com if it matters.

I have unvalidated two stories on my archive using phpMyAdmin. I have not been able to unvalidate stroies through the eFiction script. It might be a bug, I don't know.
To unvalidate a story in your database, browse the story table and find the story's row. Edit the info in that story's validation field to be 0. I think once you unvalidate it, it is not in the submissions que, so make sure that you either have it bookmarked, or memorized the title. Admin should still be able to see the story and edit it to switch the validation status back on throug hthe script that way (or through phpmyadmin again).
Whoever said nothing is impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

Does anybody know if you SHOULD be able to un-validate a story without using phpMyAdmin? Just need to know if it's a bug or if I need to convince somebody to do a mod for me. π

My testsite has been working on a mod that allows author to 'hide' their stories (some of the members asked for that) and a mod that allows admin to unvalidate until the user has ammended their story once they re-submit it appears in the queue again. Runs from e-fiction 3.1.1
It seems to be working, but we are still testing it, as long as it doesn't do anything weird I'll post it as a mod if you think it'd been useful.

That's exactly what I want. It would be useful for stories posted that don't follow site rules but can be easily fixed like forgetting a disclaimer. Let me know how it works out...I'd be interested in trying it out.
