Have you searched for your problem:Yes
If so, what terms did you try:edit categories, can not move category, move category, top level category
State the nature of your problem: Copy and paste any errors you are receiving. No errors.  The problem I am having is this: I would like to drop a top-level category down a level,  but when I attempt to edit the category, the drop down menu (Subcategory of) always returns to 'Back to Main Categories'.  The same also applies to 'Place in order after'.
If I am confusing everyone, here is an example of what I would like to do. A top-level category (Hellboy) is not very popular on the website, so I would like to place (Hellboy) into the Miscellaneous category. But for some reason I can not demote Hellboy. I can however, promote a category. I don't know if I tampered with something without realizing it, but any help would be appreciated.
Do you have a test account for us?Yes. Username: Tester Password: test
In Admin->Categories
In your list, look for Miscellaneous and click the Add Subcategory
Add Hellboy as a Category name (I'm afraid I did it in your file but it's there, I couldn't figure out how to delete it without deleting the entire Miscellaneous category)
So if you click on Category->Miscellaneous (Hellboy is there... it's empty though)
Now all you need to do is Go to the lone Hellboy story click Edit
and point the Category to Miscellaneous Hellboy.
Click Submit
Then go back to Categories and delete the Hellboy category that is outside of the miscellaneous folder
And all should work.
