I have recently taken over the management of a fanfic archive, and I have to move hosting onto my own website. I have downloaded efiction to run the fanfics, however I was wondering if I can add all the fics from the previous database straight into this script, of if each fic needs to be re-added individually.

If they can be transferred in one go, what form do they need to be in. The past owner can send the fics in .sql, .excel or a document file.

What was the archive running on previously?

You need the database in .sql. If the information matches up, you can transfer it with a little effort. However, I'm guessing the information is not going to match up that well, so it may be a lot of trouble. We'd be able to help more if you'd find out what software the archive was on before.

Then I would find out which version.  Install that version on your site.  Use phpMyAdmin to put her database on your site. Make sure the site is working, then update to the latest version of eFiction.
