I want to completely revamp my site. We already have a forum and a gallery but each are at different locations from the fiction archives and what I want to do is to basically start fresh and upgrade my site to 3.4.3.
My first problem is the each time I try to upgrade and upload the new files, I says that it was already done and it's not need, yet I when I go and do a version check and says 3.3.1 and I need to upgrade. I've tried all of the suggestions and nothing has worked so far.
My second problem is I want to do a bridge and have a forum and a gallery up where the fiction archive is, in just one site instead of sending my members to a whole bunch of different sites. I downloaded SMF 1.1.5 and the latest Coppermine but I haven't installed them yet. I'm pretty much lost on what to do and want to know if it's possible to do so if I
I've looked for similar problems but none answered what I exactly what to do.
Not sure I can help with the upgrade problem but I think I can help with the forum and gallery quesiton. What you want to do is create folders for each on your FTP server; like forums and gallery (whatever you want them to be called. Upload them under the main directory of your client (ie so that the address will be youraddress/forum and youraddress/gallery). That will direct them to the other things and keep them connected to your archive. I hope that makes sense.

Actually, creating a bridge with an existing efiction install is a little more complicated than that, especially if you're hoping to keep all your old posts. (I'd recommend you start new with SMF and Coppermine otherwise, it's so complicated as to be almost impossible.)
After you get everything updated, you'll need to copy all the tables that are used by the bridge to the SMF database--at the very least, you'll need the members name, userid email and password. Look in the mod forum for more specific instructions or searh for SMF. There are several posts with detailed discussions on the best ways to do this.
Then you just follows the instructions in the readme file in the SMF bridge folder and you're good to go.
ok I downloaded the new SMF and Coppermine and I installed them ondifferent folders but on a same database as the eFiction archive. So I have to copy the efiction table right to the smf and coppermine tables? Where do I find them?
No, you'll have to bridge your SMF installation to your Coppermine installation in order for it to work. SMF will be the tie that holds the three together, so to speak. So you'd just need to copy your efiction tables to your SMF tables. The tables are in your database. There are other threads in the mods forum that explain how to find then and which ones to copy.
ok. so far I have the SMF and Coppermine bridged together and that's working fine. I'm at my sql database now and I have no idea where to start. Is is possible for me to bridge my coppermine to my efiction?
Did you look at the threads in the mods forums. They should help. There is also a bridge in there for eFic and Coppermine.
ETA to add the link to the Coppermine bridge: https://efiction.org/forums/index.php?topic=4486.0
I've looked on how to change the database tables and I still can't find it. I am willing to pay if someone could help me with bridging the smf to my efiction site. I pretty much got everything i want with the new look and that only thing that is keeping me right now is just that.
Admins and Mods you can delete this topic. I was able to bridge my existing efic to a new smf.
