Does anyone know of a countdown to a date script that will work with eFiction. The few I have tried so far don't work. I am unsure if it's cause the file is a .tpl instead of an html, or what.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is is a javascript file? If so, you'll probably need to put part of it in your header.tpl, or add an extra_header.php (I think that's what it's called) to each of your skins you want to use it in.

I tried one of those, it didn't work. I tried several different kinds but none seemed to work. I was mainly asking just in case someone else had a countdown script that they knew worked.

As long as you put the <script>blah, blah</script> part in the header.php so it shows in in the <head> part of you document, there is no reason why a javascript based counter wouldn't work unless Tammy has changed that. I know I had two javascript based features added into my 1.1 installation.

Nope. It hasn't been changed.  If you put it in an extra_header.php either in the skin files or in one of the main files it should work.  I may look into putting a countdown block together.  I assume you're wanting to count down to HP7  It might be a good thing on my site to add a countdown for the return of Stargate. 🙂

Yes Tammy, you know me so well. I was trying to do a countdown for HP 7. LOL... The one's I was trying to install was supposed to go in the body . I had it under my welcome message but it didn't work. I figured I may not be putting it in the right file, but I wasn't sure.

What you could do in the meantime is put up one of those nifty free flash countdowns for HP 7, since there are some floating around the net 🙂

The only ones I see aren't for public use. Have you seen any I could use?

Well, I got an error, and I am not sure if it's just where I have the block or what.

Warning: main(blocks/countdown/en.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.mally/dhowler/rq.citadelofthewolf.com/blocks/countdown/block.php on line 4

Warning: main(blocks/countdown/en.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.mally/dhowler/rq.citadelofthewolf.com/blocks/countdown/block.php on line 4

Skin: Ravenclaw

Notes:

  • It works fine on all the other pages. *looks confused*
  • I just noticed on CSSZen that on the Submit a challenge/Edit a Challenge, the errors show up as well and it's not even set to display on those skins.

What do you put in the template for this to work, {countdown}?

if you want the countdown on your indexpage then try this in your index.tpl file

<div class="block">
      <div class="title"><img src=""{skindir}/images/countdown.gif"></div>"
      <div class="content">{countdown_content}</div>
    </div>

this is what I use for the skin that I have got and it works fine
