URL to your eFiction: http://camerson.ensanity.us
Version of eFiction:3.2.1
Have you bridged eFiction, if so with what?:no
Version of PHP: 4.4.4
Version of MySQL: 4.1.21-standard
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try:author count, version check
State the nature of your problem: author count is off and version check still says I need to update
Do you have a test account for us?no

Hi! I tried looking for this problem but I saw that when people upgraded to 3.2.1 it said that it was suppose to be resolved. I had done a clean install of 3.2.1 to my server but I keep getting these two errors. Also when I was installing and looking in the documents docs/installhelp.htmfolder it said that I should have a folder that said data/dbconfig.php and that I need to modify it and put it outside of the web directory. There was no such folder included in the zip. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it but I thought I should mention it. If I should create a test account please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi there, i think those instructions are for the older version (v2), the dbconfig has now been changed to config.php and that shoudl be moved from docs to your efiction main directory and chmod to 666. If you have done that and it is all set right, it won't be the cause of that problem i don't think.

Did you run into any kind of errors during your install?  It looks like whatever is in your version field in your _settings table is not 3.2.1, which is why you're getting the need to update message.  It's as simple as changing via myphpAdmin, but also since you're saying you're story count isn't correct..that's why I asked if you encountered any errors doing the install.

Also, I don't know if you're tried it, but click Admin>Archive Maintenance

Then click the re-calculate links if you haven't already done so and see if that doesn't fix your story count problem.

Hi Jacci! I tried chomd my config.php script to 666 just in case but that didn't change anything.

Hi Chelle! I've run the Archive Maintenance modules several times without any changes showing up. I checked to my tables to make sure that they are counting the authors correctly, they are.

I  also did not run into any errors when I was installing. I hope there is something because I really don't want to have to back up the whole thing and try again. I always have problems with restoring backups of sql tables. I'm cursed when it comes to them πŸ™

I've gone into my Table: camersonm1fanfiction_stats and I noticed that it said under Indexes: No index defined!

When I browsed the table that I saw that the counts that are listed in there are incorrect and that is where the author count is coming from. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this table?

That No index defined shoudl not be the cause of your trouble. I just checked my _stats and have the same message about No index defined and have no problem with any of my stats count on either of my efictions.

I dont know if it woudl be safe just to alter the count in the table to reflect the correct count and then see if it counts properly from there. I guess if you do that it might cover the underlying cause of the problem, although sometimes the tables jsut need a good smack to get them back on track too.

Hi! Okay I tried going into my tables and change the stats. It did not hold. As soon as I added a new story it went back to it's old evil ways. I want to try to do a clean install but I'm scared to loose everything. Plus it takes forever for my server to upload efiction because of tinymce (that file is huge). Also I didn't realize this but I left the stories set to the default to have it save to a story directory instead of the database. I am not sure if that would be part of the problem since it's the authors count that is giving me issues.

You can try to upload all the efiction files to your server except the tinyMCE folder.
