Since 3.1 or 3.1.1 I've noticed that most pages will default to Most Recent sort even though I've set it to alphabetical in the display settings, whcih I've gotten complaints about but haven't had time to investigate. Today I noticed something even stranger. I was viewing someone's profile: http://www.dracoandginny.com/viewuser.php?uid=5, which was displaying by Most Recent sort. I changed it to alphabetical with the dropdown, and it worked fine until I went to page two. Then, I noticed it was in Most Recent sort again. I attempted to change it to Alphabetical with the dropdown again, and it went to a page which is my profile (uid=1002), with "Error!We encountered an error. Please go back and try again." where the stories would be, and this URL: http://www.dracoandginny.com/viewuser.php?action=storiesbyuid=5&sort=alpha
I'm not sure if this is easily reproduced, as it may have to do with me being logged in. Any help is appreciated.
For the story listings there are two places to set it. You have to set it site-wide, but then each individual user has the option to set it in their preferences so if people are having trouble, have them check that.
The second thing you describe with it not sticking then going to your profile sounds like a bug. I can't test it because I don't have any authors who have enough stories.
Hmm, that's strange. I know I'd had it set as alphabetical in my settings, but it was at most recent when I just checked. I could have changed it when I was testing. Though I do remember someone telling me they were getting most recent sort despite their profiles having been set for alphabetical - but this was when we were still in 3.1.1.
After switching it back to alphabetical in my profile, it does the same thing when I go through the same steps but selecting Most Recent sort instead.
Also, (which might be a separate issue), when I choose "Options" from the dropdown - not that anyone really should anyway - it directs me to http://www.dracoandginny.com/false, which gives me 404.
I'm updating my bug reports since I just upgrade to 3.3, and this is still happening. If anyone is interested in helping me figure it out, I have a test account.
It's a bug. The sort isn't being passed to the pagination links.
