I'm working with a friend, and building a PHP library to convert Microsoft Office Open Document Format files (docx) to HTML. As such, I have done a preliminary hack on http://tgfiction.net to allow Word .docx uploads. It's crude, and far from perfect, but shows possibility as the library expands to support more documents.
