All co-authors not listed on table of contents or in search

I'm running on 3.4.2 and searched for "co-authors". I vaguely remember seeing this brought up on a different thread but it wasn't focused primarily on this problem so I decided to start another thread to better organize these problems.

Anyway, at the moment, the only author listed on a story's table of contents is the author who created the story (the one who hit 'Add New Story' and added all the other co-authors). The story only comes up when I search for this primary author; it does not come up if I search for one of the co-authors. However, when I'm browsing or when the story does come up during a search, all the co-authors are listed. The story also shows up when I view a co-author's profile.

Is there some way to make this more consistent so that the story shows up when I search for any of the co-authors or when I view the story's table of contents?
