Hi, I hope this is the right place to post my question.
I'd like to add a new text field in the submission page, in order to allow the authors to declare their beta reader.
For various reasons, I don't want anything DB-related, just a plain text field that shows the name of the beta reader in the story header, together with the other information (such as warnings, rating etc.)
Is it possible and above all easy and not dangerous for the stability of the script?
My site is currently running eFiction version 3.2.1 and it's translated into Italian.

I think you'd have to at least have a field in the stories table so that the beta reader(s) for the story would be saved and pulled for display. [The warning, ratings, etc are stored in there] That could be accomplished though. If the co-author functionality was copied..I think that would be a great base for it. It'd be a fairly simple mod I'd think. But I haven't done any for efic..so I don't know if cloning the co-authors just sounds easier than it is modification wise. On the surface it does seem so.
I thought about it, but there's a major problem: the co-author field pull the names from the member list of the site. What if an author has a beta reader outside the site?
That's why I was thinking about something simpler and not DB-related, like a plain textbox.

Ahh I see. Well that would simple things up I think. You'd still would prolly have to add a field to the stories table so the information was stored there so it could be pulled. Then add the field in the submit form. Then add your beta reader in the display when your stories are listed [in blocks and when your stories are listed.]
