Okay I was crawled through again and the site description DID change, but not to what I programmed in. Now I'm sure I must have done something wrong, but I can't understand what. I put the site description where it said site description. Why isn't it working for me?

Well, I doubt if I can help, but, what is it showing up as?  Maybe I can search around the forums for you and try to help.

From what I understand, Google doesn't use the meta-tags for your site description anymore.  It uses an algorithm of it's own to choose text from your page for a description/snippet.

I read a book on SEO for work and they also seemed to think that was the case. People started stuffing their keywords with a lot of random unrelated junk to get higher rankings and effectively made them worthless. So while the meta tags can be useful for what the search engines will show about your site, they don't really seem to have a lot of influence as far as rankings go.

Of course they're very secretive about all that and constantly changing it up, so it's hard for anyone to really know what would work the best. It's a lot of educated guessing. ; )
