I'm just wondering if anyone knows a way to add a feature that would allow you to indicate that the poster of a work is not the original author, but rather a translator? And, possible, add the main author to the output? A number of my drabbles have been translated into other languages, and I would like to permit these translators to post in my personal archive, but I am a little perplexed as to the best way to differentiate between authorship credits and translation credits.
For example, I would like
"The Pride of Kings" by beyond-dream
to read like
"The Pride of Kings" translated by beyond-dream
or, even better, something like
"The Pride of Kings" by Angelike Riddle with translations by beyond-dream
Not all stories have a translator, of course, so it needs to be something that can be switched on and off on a per-story basis. Somehow I think what I'm asking for is too complicated for a solution, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. The "by" statement is part of the skin template, so whether it's possible to have it vary between stories is up in the air. Even if an actual modification cannot be created, some suggests for how to solve my problem would be welcome.
That would require modding a lot of the files. The simplest approach would probably be to treat it like a second instance of coauthors, and essentially duplicate that. Of course, stuff with coauthors appears in dozens of files, so as I said, a lot of work. But I think it's doable, if you were invested enough in the idea.
Yes, this will require lots of modding. For now, I'd probably make is extremely clear in the author's notes. =/ I don't think there is any other way...
