Over the past couple of weeks, I've found an increasing number of members are having difficulty posting stories to my archive.  ( http://mtt.just-once.net/fanfiction)

At first we thought it might be browser related, but it doesn't matter whether you use IE, Firefox or Safari, they receive the same error message, "You must include the text of your story either as an upload or as input into the textarea.".  I've tried to trouble shoot this with my members as best as possible, to rule out any user errors, or incompatibilities.  We have used every post method we can think of, browser, tinyMCE on/off, and OS platform.

The weirdest part is that it seems to be occurring selectively, I personally have no issue with uploading, as do the majority of the authors, but everyday I hear from someone new about not being able to post their story.  I've searched through the forums, and the closest match I could find was a tinyMCE and Safari issue, which actually resolved the issue for one member, but not the others sadly.

The only modifications on the archive are the Recommendations and Beta List modules.  Everything else is how it was from the zip.

Are you uploading text files, or are you pasting the text into the story text box?

If uploading, it could be that they are trying to upload something other than a plain .txt file.

Both.  I worded that wrong by using "upload", I mean posting in general, in anyway way shape or form.  They've tried uploading word and text documents, and copy pasting.  One member said she just typed the whole thing into the text box, and it posted.  But that seems like a real pain for the authors to have to do.

Thanks!

You can't upload Word documents.

Copying and pasting should work. Have that author try posting another story or chapter (unvalidate her and it won't show up or send any notices) with copying and pasting the text she typed in before from off the site. Then try copying from her program and see if it works. Make a list of what works for her and what doesn't.

There could be something in the text that's causing it to mess up, like curl or other words.

Try to find something that you can recreate though, and give us more information. πŸ™‚

Thanks, I didn't even think the program they were copying from would be responsible.  I've asked a couple of my authors who are having this problem to try this out.
