In the past my site has been hit by spam bots making comments to news posts and submitting spam story reviews.  I would really like to see a moderation system in place to help eliminate this.

Along with this the system should allow admins to exempt specific users from being moderated or to put certain users into moderation.

Thanks,
Chad

Wit the new registration system, most spam bots should be kept from registering in the first place.

On top, how about the option to have new members under some sort of moderation/flood control, only allowing a certain amount of posts per hour, only posting a certain time after registration or moderation during the first few posts.
(Posts meaning anything from story to review or comment)

So I have BadBehavior installed and also I have it set so new users receive their passwords by email. Thanks to these measures I've been able to control spam better but after getting hit with a spam reviewer tonight I had a couple other thoughts:

The Flood control would definitely be welcome as these spammer register then somehow post 70-80 reviews in a matter of minutes, so a way to set the time between reviews would be good.

Reviewer Validation: Kind of like how authors have their stories held for moderation unless they are "Validated" it'd be good to do something similar with reviewers; have their comments held until the admins mark them as a "validated" reviewer. Could also be useful for problem reviewers!

Limit hyperlinks: Typically the spammers we get post reviews with like 50 links so it would be good to have an option to set the number of links (no more than a couple probably) or disable hyperlinks in reviews altogether.

Slightly unrelated but I'd be interested in an option to moderate all anonymous reviews. As I've posted elsewhere we don't have many reviewers on our archive and part of it may be people don't want to bother with registration, but at the same time there's way too much spamming for me to consider opening reviews to anonymous users, so having those reviews held in moderation would be good!

Well, I had something planned down that path, although not very specific yet.
To start with, there are two user/member groups, where the second is considered "trusted". So even after successfully becoming a member, a spammer would face whatever moderation an admin had seen fit, be it throttle, validation, blocking of url ...
Putting guest feedback on moderation altogether actually sounds great, hadn't thought of that, will definitely be a thing, thanks!
