World of Mendala

I'm a published fantasy/adventure novelist. And my site is used to promote my book. I use the efiction script as part of the User Community of my site so that people can submit fan fiction based on my novels and the fantasy world I created. (I'm having a writing and art contest if anyone is intersted $100 prizes for the winners).

SMF is the base script for my user community, I have moded it with multiple plugins, including an image gallery and a shop, and the efiction script is bridged to SMF among other things.

I've made several adjustments to the efiction script to meet the needs of my user community

• I made my own template to match the colors and layout of the forum
• I modified the script (queries.php/get_session_vars.php) to get the Display Name as the pen name instead of the username.
• I've modified the script slightly so that the header of the forum appears by making an adjustment to the header.php file and using the already included SSI.php from SMF
• I modified the script (stories.php) so that posting a new story (or new chapter in a story) increases the post count in SMF.
• I modified the script (stories.php) so that posting a new story adds money to the member for my shop mod in SMF
• I modified the script (reviews.php) so that posting a review increases the post count in SMF
• I modified the script (storyform.php/challenges.php) so that only an admin can post round robins or challenges. I did this to accomodate a shop item that I created in SMF that my members can buy that gives them the level 4 admin privelege and therefor "extra" benfits in the story archive (post round robins, series, and challenges). This works for me because I have my archive set so that anyone can submit to the archive. A level 4 admin is only useful if no one can submit but you want to give someone the ability to post without having to be approved. Since that doesn't apply in my archive, I was able to use the level 4 admin for other purposes by making a few modifications.
• I also made a modification so that only true admins (3 and higher) can see the featured story and validated drop down when adding a new story.

I also made some changes to SMF by adding links in the member profile that link to a member's stories, series, reviews, challenges, and favorites. There is also a link on each post (above the avatar) that links to a member's stories.

Currently, i'm working on a way to move the Story Account preferences to the SMF user profile and have the efiction script read them from there using a mod that allows me to add profile fields. Also working on integrating the story/series/reviews/challenges/favorites lists into the SMF profile to make it fully integrated but that will take more time since it involves making several extra profile pages.  All of my SMF changes are mods so that they can be easily added and removed.

You should definitely check it out. I did a lot of work to make the script meet my needs but it was all very easy to do because efiction is very easy to adjust. Even when I upgraded from 3.1 to 3.2.1 it was easy to reaply all my changes.
