Sycophant Hex archives, ten in total (one being an art gallery), focus around Harry Potter. We have one for other fandoms, original works and cross overs for HP. The others have their specific purpose in hosting.

All archives are quality controlled by a group of Admins who volunteer their time in screening stories. Our goal is to host quality fanfiction and help all the authors who post with us in improving their craft.

Wow, You've done an incredible job! My compliments! BTW, how did you do the recent news and older news? I'd like to implement it on my site too!

The Recent News and Older News is set by the Number of Updated Stories in the Settings area. I recent it to 2 so if I have three news items it will show the Recent News and Older News options. To change the number go to the index.php file and find:

if (empty($offset) || $offset < 0)
{
$offset=0;
}
if (empty($index)) $index=0;
$limit = 2;

It's pretty close to the top so you don't have to scroll too much. Mine has 2 in it, set it to what you would want.

I've seen your site and I was very impressed both with the size, design and how active it is. πŸ™‚ Well done! I was planning to add a link to your archive on my site.

I used the template.php file that is included with eFiction.

Very Nice. Do you accept general HP Fan-Site affiliations? I have a Fan Fiction section on my site.

I'm sure we could work something out, I need to increase my search engine ranking. πŸ˜‰

I have a question about the recent/older news that you have on your site. It says more/less on our site, and I want to change it to say older news/recent news. I first went to the userlanguage.php - not sure that is the exact way it is in the file but it is the user and not admin language I went into, and I replaced the less/more with what I wanted it to say. But it still said leess/more, so I then went into the index.php and changed the less/more to what I wanted it to say...but that was wrong because an error appeared and I had to return that file to how it was. Is there another file I need to change as well? I haven't done a lot of looking into it as I have been busy doing other site related stuff, but I really would like to have it say recent/older instead of less/more. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to our site: http://www.thesilversnitch.net/

Somehow the underscores are also showing up, but I did not add anything or take anything away so I do not know why this is happening.

Um... are you talking about my site? Cause like I said I don't have eFiction up right now. But I can tell you the reason you are seing the underscores is you do not have _LESS and _MORE defined in your languser.php file.

Go to line 67 and you will see aomething like the following:

//index.php

define ("_LESS", "Less");
define ("_MORE", "More");

and change it to something like this:

//index.php

define ("_LESS", "Recent News");
define ("_MORE", "Old News");

Or you could say Previous Page and Next Page, whatever you want. πŸ˜‰

Thanks! I knew that Sycophant Hex had the old news/more news on their site so I was asking them, but you answered my question πŸ™‚ I had actually gone into my languser.php file and had changed both instances to old news/recent news instead of leaving the _MORE and _LESS. Going to fix it now - thanks!!!
