thought I'd tell you about my new fanfiction site which is at http://www.fanfictionworld.org we are a new fanfiction site that accept fanfics based on any subject really whether its about a tv programme/movie or an orgional fanfic you have written and if there isnt a category already there if you ask at our forums then we will create one for you
as well as the main fanfiction site we have a forum where you can chat about anything you like as well as fanfic stuff, a shop where you can get branded products and a chatroom and there will be more stuff added with time

You have something off in the machine skin. Your poll and all the stuff on the left side of the page seems to be hiding behind the site news (i.e. the middle section of the page) in Firefox. It looks fine in IE7.

yeah I knew about that but thanx for mentioning it, I didnt know how to fix it tho for firefox, and as it works fine in I.E i didnt wanna mess with it untill i can figure out whats wrong with it cos id proberbly mess it up if i tried fixing it

I can tell you one major problem, your browse menu is too big to be in the header. You're either going to have to make the header about 70px more in height or move it to the left or right column of the main page, or divide it between the two header divs and move the search and skin blocks someplace else. 😐 Same thing with the second horizontal menu. You can either have that OR the login block in the space, not both.
As for your wandering column, I would go back in and check to see if there are any open tags. I did a quick looksie in the css file and it doesn't seem like you did any structural changes, so I'm guessing it's just a typo somewhere.

Thanx Kali I made the header 70px more and it looks ok now I havant been able to do anything about the wandering column yet, which file would I look in for this? would it be the index.tpl ?
also the thing you said about the 2nd menu or the login block regarding the login block I have moved it to the very top of the page
so really I think its just the wandering column problem that needs sorting out now

Actually it looks a lot better, the left column seems to be staying on the left like it should. Even with resizing the browser.

yeah I've just been messing with it now it the only thing I think thats off now slightly is the browse box i think slightly overlaps the 2nd menu (ever so slightly) so maybe thats something I need to try and fix (would making the header bigger fix this slight issue I wonder?)
