Hi everyone,
I just registered -and payed- a hosting on htto://hosting.aruba.it taking a Windows Hosting profile.
Now someone is telling me eFiction is not going to work on it, that I had to buy a Linux Hosting.
Can someone tell me if it's true?
I still have to wait 24h at least before trying to install, and I can't wait for anxiety is now devouring me π
So sorry, and thanks for helping me.
If your site is paid for and you have access to your cpanel, you dont actaully have to wait for dns propogation. You should have a temporary url to access your site. You can still try to run the install using the temp url. (once the dns propogates, then you use normal one). That should let you know if it is going to work or not. If it isnt, then see if they can swap you to a linux host instead.
From what i have read (although no expert and not 100% certain) windows hosting is problematic for many scripts and linux is much more php friendly.
Windows hosting SEEMS like the way to go if you are a PC user and used to running windows, but i dont think that is the case at all.
why is nothing ever easy?

Windows should work for eFiction installs. I have a testing environment on my local PC and eFiction runs without problems there.

That is not the case, I used to assume that also but it has nothing to do with the interface (or control panel) that a user is given based upon whether or not it is Linux or Windows hosting.
@Rowina, I checked what you host has to offer for Windows hosting and it seems to meet the requirements. However in a lot of cases Windows hosting does not provide the required PHP to run eFiction. I also should let you know that there is technically no such thing as what your web host is claiming "unlimited diskspace/unlimited traffic". You may want to take a look at this post on web hosting. Also the fact that they only give you 5 of everything is absurd π‘
