Hi ^^
I use Hostgator and they recently changed the interface for the phpmyadmin.
I'm not all that technologically savvy as it is, so I'm a wee bit lost as to how
to do a successful DB backup. Before, I could do it with no issues, as just about
everything was preset. I just zipped it and saved. Now, I'm not sure if the
controls have remained the same (preset), or if I should be making adjustments
with this new interface.
If anyone has any knowledge or experience, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks π
Look for an option to change the theme. I think it will be on the main page.

You're amazing. Thank you so much! π
EDIT: You're still awesome -lol- but the issue still exists. On the main page,
they gave me the old interface, but the tables and export pages are still the
new interface. The export page is my nemesis because those are the settings
that I'm uncertain about. I basically want to know what, if anything, do I have
to adjust control-wise in order to back up properly.
Sheesh, why did they have to go beating up us tech-challenged people? lol.
Okay, I just checked again and you're right. Odd! If you just select the Quick method, there should be a prompt to save as a .sql.

Thanks for getting back to me. I've been doing it that way
(since I didn't know quite what to do with the full controls).
I'm just hoping it's saving properly. I know I should probably
test it on a test site, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do
all of that. Crud. Guess I will, though...
Thanks for your help!
I have just found my one has gone the same way. Was a bit of a nasty shock and I can't say that i like it at all, more work to get to the options that i want. So far though, i have found that if you pretty much leave the defaults alone, you should be okay. Just as Elle said about save as the .sql
why is nothing ever easy?

Thanks for the second opinion, Jacci!
I've been doing exactly that (leaving the defaults as is) and hoping
that the backups are successful. I just don't get the need to fix what
isn't broken without any warning to the customers. Very annoying.
I did use Hostgator, but only the first year
