I'm keeping my server, but I wanted to change the domain name for my efiction archive. Do I have to treat it like a server move, or is there some way to just redirect to the new domain?
I know for one thing you'd need to change the URL specified in the settings, but nothing else immediately comes to mind.

Apologies for the double post, but I had another question related to this. It looks like we might need to move the folder holding the files for the efiction site to another location on the server. Would moving the files in such a way affect anything?
So it's a different domain, different location on the server? I've never tried that scenario, but I don't think it should matter. The things to watch out for are the database and db user information (stuff in config.php). So long as that's not changing, and you specify the right domain name and stories path folder (if any) in settings, you should be good to go.
