I'm back with a likely different validation prob.
First, my archive is here: http://www.thundercatsfans.org/tcfans/fanfiction/index.php
I have a story in queue that I'm trying to validate. It doesn't disappear on me this time, but I do get this error now at the top of the page when validation is attempted:
Notice: Use of undefined constant _NOTAUTHORIZEDADMIN - assumed '_NOTAUTHORIZEDADMIN' in /xxxxxx/xxxxxxx/xxxxxx/tcfans/fanfiction/admin/validate.php on line 121
This message also appears on the page:
View Submissions
_NOTAUTHORIZEDADMIN Please try again.
I did check some obvious things, like making sure that I'm still the admin (I'm the only admin on the archive ) and then I checked the category area to be sure it lists me as the admin in all the categories too as I did move some things around recently and revamped a lot of the archive.
I did recently move everything to a new server, and I did try uploading validate.php again just in case something got mucked up in the transfer. Still get the error.
I can access and seemingly use everything else in the admin panel, so why it apparently thinks I'm not authorized to validate I've no idea! Is there something else I'm missing, something I perhaps forgot to switch off or on? Thanks for any help provided 😀
Edit: Ok, I went in and tried to validate via the edit feature on the story...it said that action was successful, but now I'm back to my old problem - story doesn't show and it's gone from the validation queue. I guess I'll try via mysql again, but that's a pretty weird problem or bug to have. I do wonder if it's just me and/or a set-up glitch or if it is a genuine bug. Just figured I'd let you know either way.
Edit 2: Set the validation in the database on that story to 1, and it still won't show. Now I'm really stuck for what to do!
I did check some obvious things, like making sure that I'm still the admin (I'm the only admin on the archive )
If you're the only admin then you shouldn't be listed as admin on any. You should leave that blank so you're automatically an admin on ALL of them.
Looked and I'm definitely an admin on the main category and all the sub-cats - not that I remember doing that myself. I figured it was automatic and I see no way to take myself off if I'd wanted to anyway. At any rate, don't see a reason it should give me an unauthorized error when I try to validate.
The problem now is the story supposedly validated when I selected that option in edit story mode, so it's out of the validation queue. But it won't show up on the site under most recent or anywhere else I can see until I found the action log in the admin panel. It's listed there, as a story I'd edited. I can then click on the link and still see the story exists here:
http://www.thundercatsfans.org/tcfans/fanfiction/viewstory.php?sid=321
But I'm not sure anyone else on the site can get to the story. It's validated, as sql confirms, but it's not behaving like a validated story if you know what I mean - the average user wouldn't know the story exists and that's a problem. Furthermore the author, salty girl, doesn't show up under the author's list here:
http://www.thundercatsfans.org/tcfans/fanfiction/authors.php?list=authors&let=S
even though her story is supposedly validated *and* I validated her as an author besides. I guess if all else fails, I can have her upload the story again and maybe it'll show up to everyone else now that she's been validated as an author (and it should have worked because when I look at her profile, one of my admin options for her is to revoke her validation - Yet it lists her story count as 0, even though her story too supposedly validated - that can be seen here: http://www.thundercatsfans.org/tcfans/fanfiction/viewuser.php?uid=59 ). I could then delete the unseen, problem story. However, that's a band-aid fix and the long way around it.
I'll try uploading a test story on a test account later to see if I can duplicate this quirk or if it goes well. If it is a bug, it'd be cool to sort it out. If it's just something quirky with the archive that happens now and then from something I'm doing or not doing right sometimes (though, I'm pretty sure I do the same thing every time I accept a new story and author...I'm not exactly new to running an efic archive), or simply a matter of something getting mucked up when I moved the archive, it'd be nice to figure that out, too.
Thanks!
Edit: Had her submit the fic again, so it's showing at the moment on the site. Original problem never did get solved, but I figured if the validation as an author took her uploading again would work to at least get her fic visible in the meantime. Haven't had time to try a test story myself, but I'll let you know how that goes when I do.

You should take all of those off. I am the main admin on my site, and I do not have any categories listed there for me. If you don't have any categories listed, then that means that you have all of them by default. Take them all off and see if that fixes it.

When I click on this link:
http://www.thundercatsfans.org/tcfans/fanfiction/viewstory.php?sid=321
I get the not validated message (as a guest). So whatever you did in mysql didn't take. Remember also that in addition to the story, the chapters must be validated.
Jan - I didn't make myself the admin in any of the main or sub-cats...it did that automatically and actually, I see no way to UN-do that either. Only option I see is to add another admin, but no way to remove myself. This is when I'm looking under categories in the admin panel. If I should be looking elsewhere, let me know.
Tammy - that original upload is the one you looked at and it did never show up like it should. sql does say it's validated - everything in the tables looks the same as the other stories that I had no problem with so looking at that, it would seem it 'took'. But obviously, from looking at the archive, it didn't...somehow. Hence, my confusion.
That author did eventually get her story up, she just had to upload it again. Since she was a validated author upon her second attempt, it worked just fine. My concern is having to go through this with every newbie author with my only other option to turn off the pre-screening of stories and authors.
Another problem just came to my attention today, but it seems to be seperate from this one so I'll look around and see if that's been discussed yet on the forums and if not, start another thread.
At any rate, it bears saying that I love efiction and I do really appreciate all the hard work the developers have put into it, plus their dedication to maintaining it. Hat's off to you, and thank you so much for offering this to the general public for free.
I can't replicate this error.
i'm not having any problems validating stories or chapters, so I'm marking this solved. After updating, if anyone still has this problem, please open a new bug post. Thank you!
