After running the newest (3.5.3) update, I noticed that the results bars on my poll show as only outlined clear boxes, where they used to contain the standard colored-and-outlined bar.

I didn't update my custom skin's files or the update's image folder, as the tutorial advised against it, and this happened immediately after the update, so..
Just thought I would mention it, in case others are having that same issue.
THIS IS SOLVED, BUT IT YOU ARE ALSO HAVING THIS OR ANY OTHER NITPICKY ISSUES AFTER AN UPDATE, PLEASE CHECK TO BE SURE YOUR SERVER DIDN'T DO WHAT MINE DID. YOUR FILES MUST BE CHMODDED TO 777 OF THE IMAGES/POST STORY THINGS WILL NOT WORK.
AND TAKE THE WARNING TO BACK UP ALL FILES SERIOUSLY. IF I HADN'T DONE AS THE FAQ/TUTORIAL SUGGESTED, I WOULD HAVE LOST EVERYTHING.
Not a bug. You're skin is screwed up. You're missing the bar image.
Nooo, it's copied into the csszen/images folder as well as the base images folder. It always worked before now.
I also just tried to add a new story and it will highlight a category but not add it to the list when the > is pushed. This is also since the update because that's been working fine too. So I cannot get it to post the story. Do I simply reupload my previous files to undo this update? The story I'm trying to post is a must, a birthday gift.

It's not. You get a 404 error. It's not an issue with the script. It's your skin.
It isn't there now because I just tried reuploading the 352 files i saved right before the update. Doing so completely trashed my site.
Also, the backup of the sql i made through the admin panel will not ecexute through the server's panel.
I am so completely screwed that it isn't even funny.

Managed to recover functionality, but still cannot choose a catagory and the poll image still does not work. The ratings stars that always worked just fine are also just white squares now. As for the poll jpg, I can prove that it's in the folder if you like:

I have more than one category set in the options, that never changed at all. The list appears, and the empty box beside it, but if i hilight one category and click the >, it does not add to the list.
This happens everywhere that category choiceboxes apper, both my personal options and the admin add story page.
Please tell me how to correct this, or what file(s) i could reupload to address it.

edit again: I fixed the issue with posting AND the default images, for some reason the update undid the 777 chmod setting on everything in the efic folder. still not seeing the changed pip, but that may need to be re-edited in the file to make it show. Odd..

The server may be telling you there that the file is in the same place, but click on the link and you'll still go to a 404 page. I've seen this before when using a sub-domain like you are. If the simlinks aren't set up right by the host, it will be screwed up. The same thing is probably happening with the javascript which is why your other things aren't working.
It's not the script.
ETA: Everything seems to be working for me now.
Yep. Not only did i get it working, I already changed a lot of the lil gif images to something more suiting the site. It was easier to upload and rename them to the original names, as oasting the line into the skin's variable file did NOT work at all.
Thanks anyway though.
