This problem occurred right after I upgraded to 3.4. When I upgraded to 3.4.1, the problem went away, but after upgrading to 3.4.2 it's back. The rnrn only happens in the reviews. Here's a sample review:

Author's Response: confuzzled sirius is way fun:Drnrnumm...with the names. i don't know. I think it kind of shows that thier agitated.rnrnAnd with the Briana thing, he calls her that because she hate's it, and he's mean:SrnrnThank you heaps:D rnrnAnd yes, I've been writing for a while. This is just my first posted HP fic:Drn

Apparently this happens when the author makes breaks in the response, one 'rn' for each time she presses enter.

I checked and all reviews, not just the ones submitted between 3.4.0 and 3.4.1, now have 'rn' tags inserted every time they press enter.

I thought it has to do with the revres.php so I reuploaded the entire user folder, but the glitch is still there.

This might be pertinent:
After upgrading to 3.4, I received a report that the automatically long hyphens from Microsoft Word (– is a long hyphen compared to -) were turning into r11 and ellipses (… instead of ...) into r30. It got fixed after 3.4.1 and is still fixed with 3.4.2. I'm just not sure if that's relevant or not :/

Nothing's changed in revres.php.  The only thing I can think of is that your server might have changed the magic_quotes setting and therefore the slashes are being stripped too aggressively.

I haven't replied in a while because I've been waiting to see if anything's changed. So far, the slashes still remain.

When I look at the original review response, what should have been two breaks (<br><br>) have become "rnrn". What's weird is that this doesn't show up in the story text. When I look in phpmyadmin, there are "rnrn"  that don't show up in the story text.

I looked at the revres.php code and noticed that I only have:

$title = stripslashes($title);

but nothing to strip slashes in my review response. I also noticed that in viewstory.php, I have:

$story = stripslashes($chap['storytext']);

which, I'm assuming, is the reason why I don't have the rnrn in my story text. Therefore, would the conclusion that I would need something of the sort to strip slashes in the review response be correct? Or is there something else?

The reason I think it shouldn't be the server's magic_quotes setting is because this slash thing isn't happening anywhere else but in revres.php.

The ones without 'rnrn' were made before our upgrade.

Okay... I have found that upgrading my php version back to 5.2 appears to get rid of the rnrnrn issue - I'm not really sure if it does - but I'm not seeing it when I write test review responses anymore.

The problem is, I had to downgrade my php version to 4.4 get rid of this problem: Unwanted slashes in story titles that have Apostrophes

Does this mean I have to decide which of these two problems is the "lesser evil" and live with it?
I find neither problem tolerable, really.  😐

I'm here...

Hi.
I have the same problem.
As I don't know to much of efiction and php I want to consult here that I make. This is working with new answers to reviews but this don't correct the olds. Then I don't know if this is good or not.  😐
In /user/revresp.php at the line 32 is:

$updated = escapestring($review . "<br><br><i>"._AUTHORSRESPONSE.": " .escapestring(replace_naughty(descript($_POST['response'], $allowed_tags)))."</i>");

I replace that for:

$updated = escapestring($review . "<br><br><i>"._AUTHORSRESPONSE.": " .escapestring(format_story(strip_tags(replace_naughty(descript($_POST['response'], $allowed_tags)),$allowed_tags)))."</i>");

The page for test in that I working to correct this before make the corrections in the formal, where you can to see the result, is:
http://fanscreativos.x10hosting.com/fcresp/reviews.php?item=2&type=ST&chapid=2

I hope that you can tell me if this is correct or not.

I wish you sorry if I wrote something bad because my english isn't enough good. My first language is spanish.

Thanks. 😉
