I've still had no luck with this and I'm not sure what else to try, so I guess I'll need to remove the challenges module completely and give up for now. It's just not working the way it's supposed to. Unfortunately, "Challenges" is still showing up on the list of stories when browsing by author, category, etc. and I can't work out how to get rid of that. I'm assuming it's somewhere in the database, but if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Thought I'd check back here to see if this had any replies. I absolutely cannot get the Challenges module working and I would really love to have it as a part of archive before I open it up to thge public. I've been working on this site for months and months, but this is one of the very last problems I was hoping to have solved. Is there anyone out there who might be able to help me get this module installed and working properly or is the older skin I'm using causing some sort of problem with it?

Thanks in advance.

I got my duplicates to be removed from the sidebar by deleting duplicates in phpMyAdmin in fanfiction_codeblocks, and fanfiction_modules.  (i also deleted duplicates in the admin panel section).

There are no more duplicates in the sidebar.  Thanks!

However, my challenges page still does not work.... gah.

What do you mean by it's not working?  How so?  And what's the link to your site, so we can scope it out?

Sounds like the same problem I've been having since April of last year. My e-fiction site still isn't public because I just couldn't work out the glitches by myself. What would happen was that after installing the challenges module, there would be those duplicates on the sidebar, but nothing at all in the main navigation strip or anywhere else. It was like the module didn't exist outside of those duplicates. I couldn't find a solution here, so I called in a friend who knew more about MySQL than I do and she managed to repair it for me. Unfortunately, I don't have the solution to post here, but if I can find out what it was I'll be sure to bring it back for you.

I wish I could be of more help after struggling with this issue for so long myself.

Coming back to this for a sec... I haven't installed the challenges module so I'm not that familiar with it, but maybe it's not appearing in the menu because you haven't set it to.  Is your skin controlled by a variables.php file or by the menu block in the admin control panel?

Let me pimp something I was editing today in the wiki: https://efiction.org/wiki/index.php5?title=How_to_change_the_site_menu

I imagine it creates the panel for you, right?  That's what appearing duplicated, I think.  You may have to add it to the Page Links area to be able to add it to menu block.
