I am having a strange error where the captcha verification security code is only accepted about 1 out of 10 times.  The code does show up and is readable.  I know I entered the code correctly at least twice.

I currently have the captcha verification system turned off so that the site is functional.

At the moment this is what I see at your website:

A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
Query: SELECT count(chalid) FROM eficfanfiction_challenges
Error: (1146) Table 'gauthors_forums.eficfanfiction_challenges' doesn't exist

Mucking around in eFiction since circa 2001 (ver. 1.0)
Now running v.3

Yeah.  I seem to keep finding unique little bugs.  It is probably artifacts from how long I've had eFiction installed.  I've managed to get the thing deleted.

Is it just you or is it others experiencing this problem too?  Most likely it's losing the session variable where the code is stored.

It very well could be just me.  I am now running an almost completely stock eFiction. (I've edited the display stuff to show the "," in my counts)
Do you have any suggestions of things I should look at as to why it would be losing the session variable?

Thanks.

If you're using FF you can install the web developer toolbar and check your sessions.  I was going to look myself, but I see you have captcha turned off at your site now though.

Yeah.  I have it turned off because every time I turn it back on, I get dozens of emails and PMs telling me that it is broke.  It is easier to deal with the spam than the irate users.
I will check it out tonight when I get home from work with the developer toolbar.

(Site specs in signature)

I just received an email from someone trying to register on my site giving me the same line about captch not working.  I also decided to turn it off.  Just wanted to bring to everyone' attention that this doesn't sseem to be an isolated incident.

My Site: In The Moonlight
eFiction: v3.4.3
PHP: 5.2.4
MySQL: 5.0.27-standard
Mods: Challenges, Submit Time and Word Count

I too had some complaints about this.

However, the first time I tried it, I realized that is was "broken" because when I pushed backspace, the image they gave me wasn't really the image I was supposed to replicate. Refreshing the page was my solution.

That's what I recommended to everyone who contacted me about it, though certainly, we didn't have as many complaints as Myr had.

Can you please check and see if this is still an issue with 3.5? Thank you!
