Problems logging in on mirror site
« on: July 10, 2006, 02:10:59 am »
All right, I'm hoping to upgrade my archive to 2.0, so I set up a mirror site on my own personal server. I've made a duplicate of the MySQL database and changed the setting in the dconfig.php file to match the new database. However, I'm have a problem loggin in. The page just keeps reloading when I submit.

This had continued to happen even when I had upgraded the mirror site to 2.0. Because of that had reverted everything back to 1.1 to see if I coulf fix the problem from there. I've tried looking around this forum for some solutions, but I haven't found any that can help me with my problem.

Please, help! Thanks in advance.

If the page keeps reloading in 1.1 that's usually a problem with register globals. However, 2.0 should not have that problem. Please provide us with a link.

I've upgraded the site again to v.2.0 and still I am having this log in problem. Everytime I go to edit my profile, I'm asked to log in. I can't even seem to log out.

At first I thought this might be a problem with MySQL 5, but Tammy says it's not.

I registered for an account and I can't stay logged in either. :( I don't see anything odd on your phpinfo.php page (you should delete that, btw...it's a security risk), so there is probably something going on with your host. Try contacting them and lettting them know that your sessions aren't being set properly.

Tammy suggests this code be added to the bottom of the header.php for diagnisis purposes:

print_r($_SESSION);

Also, did you run the upgrade.php when you changed from 2.0 to 1.1. There are some database changes in that script that don't seem to have been made on your site.

Yes, I did use the upgrade.php file.

If you specify exactly which database changes that it is that need to be made I can look into it.

I didn't notice it, Tammy did. Here is what she said in her IM:

Quote
Tammy : and it doesn't look like she did the upgrade script either because if I click login from the login page I get the account page
Tammy : and then when I try to manage stories I get an error that the column "reviews" is unknown in the stories table

Did you have the script install/update the tables?

All right, I've fixed the session problem and I'm going to see if I can upgrade the script again.

EDIT: Okay, everything works A-Okay now. Thanls very much for the assistance. If you hadn't told me, I would have never known it was my php session that was the problem. Thanks again. :)
