We are running a very old version of efiction, I believe the last stable version but it's running php5, which is deprecated. My host has run an update and now php is at 8 and efiction wont' run it. We're at a point where they can't manually adjust php for it to work. 

They talked me into moving to a private server because it could run php lower than 8... I should have known it didn't work, but I wanted to give it a shot. Today I got an email that basically says they can't support anything below 7. I don't understand how other archives are still running on deprecated php?  Do I need to move to a different host? 
 
Am hoping someone can help provide some insight. A tech got it to work earlier, then I asked the migration team to move over one last folder and... boom. 
 
I am happy to pay for time and expertise if anyone has any knowledge to  throw at me. I am not techy at all. Also happy to send the message their migration team sent over that basically said 'get someone to update your software'. OK so easy.

I thought the problem was PHP 8, but now I'm not so sure. I can't log into cPanel and I created an HTML index page saying that we are experiencing technical difficulties and that page won't even load. I can't even access my site using FTP. As I was trying to work that out and back up my site, I'm afraid I deleted my site. Luckily I do have a backup of the Stories folder so that is safe. I'm at a loss. I don't know if my problem with my webhost and this new server. I'm in desperate need of advice and/or help in figuring out what is happening. I can't afford for my site not to be up and running. I'm afraid I may have to shut down my site permanently, but I'm not ready to make that decision yet. Please help!
