Now it's gone. I'm trying to find the fix. I lost my backup files.

State the nature of your problem:

I'm trying to give users the option to sort challenges by "most recent" as well as by alphabetical order. I realise challenges don't have dates associated with them and was going to use the chalid number (as suggested in https://efiction.org/forums/index.php?topic=5837.0) however this changes all challenge pages to oldest-to-newest (and removes the ability to view in alpha order on the alpha pages).

Ideally, I would prefer the alpha pages to remain in alpha order, but also have the ability to view pages by newest-to-oldest (possibly by using the "most recent" option in the "sorts" dropdown on this page).
